DISGUISE, CAMOFLAGE, CONCEALMENT...

There’s mild irony if you dig out chunks o’ the word “Maskirovka.” In a State where the high ‘n mighty at the top demand a cultish reverence for all things Chinese, that the secret police ensurin’ foreheads are kissing ground when ever a Liao walks by is named after a Russian word…. Wonder how many Chancellors chewed their tongues bloody wishing they could go back in time and change that, um, “cultural” misstep…bet you twenty Lyra to a C-bill ol’ Max did…every other night.

But gents, seriously, despite poking fun here, the Maskirovka are no laughin’ matter. Read last month Sian University is all in an uproar over teacher’ arrest over “sedition against the state.”

I boggled. That’s right…I looked the word up, gents…boggled. Not that some tweed-jacket-wearing pencil pusher was dragged out of his bed at 3AM and likely will never put eyeballs on a sun again. No…boggled these students, especially at the Sian University, would find this sorta thing gettin’ their undies all bunched up.

Par for the course, gents. Par…for…the…course. You live in a police State, you best expect that police State to come a knocking…well, any time.

And that’s doubly true if you’re a merc that takes that contract. Sure, there’s time ‘ol Capella is desperate enough to offer what feels like pretty sweet contract terms. I’ve even dealt with mercs that slip in and out of the green curtain none worse for the ware. But if there’s one place that’s got potential to be worse than dealing with pirates in the deep…it’s House Liao. They may not cut themselves for lookin’ atch like the snakes…but they’re still lookin’ down their nose like you’re a bug…and if you catch their attention, they might just send over some Russian exterminators.

WEEKLY REVIEW - 25TH OF JANUARY

Weekly Review – Jan. 25th

Hey guys, weekly update here, lots of news all over the place!

We’ve got a sale on the MC cost on non-Hero Dragons, which started today at 10am PST, and will go until 10am January 28th. If you’ve been looking at a particular Dragon you’d like to get, now’s the time!

Yesterday we added a new desktop wallpaper, this time of the new Spider, in flight! Love the image, and I really do find the little guy fun to watch. Annoying to hit, yes, but fun to watch!

Oh yeah, we had that whole patch thing too! People are reporting a much easier time hitting fast moving targets, and in general that the game feels ‘smoother.’ We’re really happy with it, and if you haven’t yet, go give it a try!

With that patch we also got our newest Hero Mech – the Death’s Knell. A quick moving, hard to hit, four arm laser’d Commando we’ve all come to love. If you love the Commando chassis, or want to try one with four lasers in the arms, this is your Mech!

Bryan went and updated the Content Roadmap, as well as the Feature Roadmap, so if you’re curious what’s coming down the pipeline, go check those out!

Also, today we will be having the Twitch event at 6pm PST (I will sadly be unable to attend, but will be playing sporadically throughout the day.) I hope you all still tune in, and sync up your drops! It’s great seeing players new and old participate, and we can all see whatever bizarre paint scheme Phil is using this week. Oh, and about those events: We’ve locked our times for them in, and we will have a page on our website specifically for the twitch events. They will be:

• Monday: 9am PST to 11am PST
• Tuesday: 2pm PST to 4pm PST
• Thursday: 9am PST to 11am PST
• Friday: 6pm PST to 8pm PST

We've got the Double XP weekend starting today, the newest wallpaper, featuring our upcoming Hero Mech, The Death's Knell Commando. We've got so many Twitch events it's crazy - one today at 6PM PST, and starting next week there will be four a week! Monday at 9am PST, Tuesday at 2pm after the patch, Thursday at 9am again and Friday at 6pm!  We also had a fantastic patch that brought us our newest Mech, the Spider!

DOUBLE XP WEEKEND!

MONTREAL – January 15, 2013 – Infinite Game Publishing and Piranha Games launched one of the fiercest and quickest Mechs into the InnerSphere today as the Spider Mech made its way into the MechWarrior Online store. Available now, Spider is one of the most maneuverable and agile of all Light Mechs with a whopping eight jumpjets and an unmatched turning radius. Spider pilots can create nightmares for pilots of heavier Mechs on the battlefield; this is the time to watch your back!

In addition to the Spider becoming available, an exciting 3-day in-game event is coming Friday, January 18 at 10 am Pacific – the first-ever MechWarrior Online Double XP event. Scheduled to run the duration of the weekend, MechWarrior pilots will hunker down at home in order to defend and conquer in the InnerSphere. The event concludes on Monday, January 21 at 10 am Pacific. To truly maximize XP earning potential, MechWarrior pilots can stack up other XP-boosting techniques such as their Premium Time to unlock powerful pilot enhancements quickly.

"After a much-needed break over the holidays, we're raring to go with exciting 2013 content updates," said Bryan Ekman, creative director, Piranha Games. "The addition of community-focused features such as the Double XP event, new Mechs and performance tweaks let's us kickoff the New Year in a big way. This is just the beginning of a huge year for MechWarrior fans."

Smaller yet important content additions accompanied the Spider Mech reveal today as the new Decay Target pilot module offers the power to keep the enemy target Mech in sight longer. This valuable time advantage of up to an additional 1.5 seconds (from the default 2 seconds) may make the difference in being able to take down enemies in heated battles, giving pilots the critical edge they need. This week's patch also includes another pilot focused content upgrade – a Sensor Range Pilot Module – boosting sensor range from 15 to 25 percent. Finally, players can also outfit their Mech with the new custom Woodland pattern, which is available in the Mech Bay today.

MechWarrior Online continues to boost content for players with meaningful, scheduled gameplay enhancements and bug fixes with the January 15 and 22nd content updates. While the Spider offers its own advantages, fans have reason to get excited about the upcoming Commando Hero Mech named, "Death's Knell" available on January 22. A new addition to the MechWarrior universe, Death's Knell is a fast, yet small Mech that packs 176 points of armour and four medium lasers – two in each arm.
